Visual Art

In the Lower School, grades K-4, students receive art instruction once per week for 45 minutes. Included in the art curriculum are various creative and challenging projects which teach students formal elements of art (line, shape, form, texture, value, and color) and principles of art (emphasis, balance, harmony, variety, movement, rhythm, proportion, and unity).

In 5th & 6th grade, students receive 6 weeks of daily art instruction. In 7th & 8th grade, students may choose art as an  elective. The elective meets twice weekly for one semester.

"Cornerstone checks all the boxes for our family. The staff provides a safe and nurturing environment for our child to learn and grow into her gifts, with a strong emphasis on leadership, independence and good moral character. Academically they provide the rigor and tools that challenge and build confidence. This has helped to foster our daughter’s innate curiosity and critical thinking and a love of learning. Cornerstone is more than a school, it is a community, and it has given our family so much more than we ever anticipated."
