In grades K-4, students attend music class once per week for 45 minutes. Students are actively engaged in writing, playing and creating music as well as moving to music using the ORFF Schulwerk model for teaching music in the classroom. The recorder is introduced in 4th grade. Lower school students also prepare for grade level class plays and the annual Grandparents Day and Christmas programs.
In 5th & 6th grade, students attend a music elective every day for 6 weeks. Students continue to write, create and play through music and drama and the Orff Schulwerk approach, as well as continue playing the recorder. Students in 5-8 grade may also join the middle school chorus.
"We love Cornerstone because it provides a safe and nurturing learning environment for our kids. The teachers, staff, and administration are top-notch and they care about every aspect of each child’s development. We are so thankful that Cornerstone has been a part of our kids’ early academic career."
