What are your class sizes?
Our desire is to limit kindergarten classes to 14 students, first and second grades to 16 students, and third - eighth grades to 20 students.
Do you have plans for a high school?
We are open to wherever God leads. Our desire is to be the best K-8 school we can be with a projected future enrollment of around 400-450. If at that point, there is a need for high school, we will certainly explore plans for a high school.
Where do your graduates attend high school?
We are proud of the fact that we have a 100% rate of acceptance at private schools. Historically, our students have transitioned into Wesleyan School, Providence Christian Academy, Greater Atlanta Christian School and their public schools.
How was the transition into the large public schools?
Our students have said that the size of the school was the biggest change, but only for a short period of time until they adjusted. An obvious change would be the absence of biblical integration into their school life. Part of our role as a K-8 school is to equip our students with the biblical foundation to see everything through the lens of Christ and to be leaders for God in their high schools, public or private.
What areas do your students come from?
While the majority of our families live in Peachtree Corners, we have a number of families from Dunwoody, Berkeley Lake, Historic Norcross, Johns Creek, Brookhaven and Cumming.
Do you offer a foreign language?
Yes. Currently, each student takes Spanish. In the Lower School, the Spanish program introduces the culture and the students learn color words, numbers, words to describe their clothing, foods, etc. Beginning in the 6th grade, students take Spanish 1 and are prepared to take Spanish 2 when they enter the 9th grade.
In what grades do you offer music, art, physical education and a foreign language?
We offer these enrichment classes in all grades. One of the things that makes Cornerstone such a great value in our area is that we offer Art, Music, Physical Education, Spanish and Technology classes to K-8. Students in grades K-4 attend these classes 1-2 times per week. Students in grades 5-8 are able to choose these classes and others, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) as elective classes.
How often do students have recess and do they have it on the days that they have P.E.?
Students in grades K-4 have recess every day. P.E. classes are designed to be teacher-directed with specific skills presented for mastery. Recess is designed to be a time of play where children can develop physically AND socially.
"The most important thing about CCA is that it helps me learn. It has wonderful teachers from Mrs. Ostrowski to Mrs. Davis. Every day we have math. Sometimes it is as hard as trying to break a pencil and sometimes it is as easy as stepping on the floor. On Thursday, we go to chapel and sing praises to God and we sound louder than the Liberty Bell. But the most important thing about CCA is that it helps me learn."
